USTC Program for the History of Astronomy in the Ancient and Medieval Periods
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Science and Technology of China (Hefei, P.R. China) is soliciting applications from outstanding candidates for Postdoctoral positions in the History of Ancient and Medieval Astronomy (HAMA). Candidates must have a strong background and interest in the history of mathematical, theoretical, and observational astronomy, astronomical instrumentation, and transmission of astronomical/astrological doctrines and data in the medieval world.
The applicants can work in any of the already-established subfields of HAMA in each region and community (Greek, East Asia, Middle East, Latin Europe, Jewish, etc) on the basis of a detailed and well-planned proposal. The researchers will be working with Prof. S. Mohammad Mozaffari.
Qualifications
1. Ph.D. in the history of science and technology or any relevant discipline (Age not more than 35 years old, not more than 38 years old after applying to the enterprise)
2. Expertise in the standards methods used in the investigation in the history of mathematical sciences in Antiquity and Medieval world
3. An acceptable level of technical skills in computer virtual modeling, computation and working with data, etc.
4. Good knowledge of Greek, Arabic, Latin, Persian, Turkish, and/or other languages
Requirements

Duration: 3 years (renewable once)
Annual Salary: 150,000 RMB (plus five insurance and rental subsidies in Hefei)
The USTC will supply the accepted persons with the invitation TE letter and all kinds of supports during the period of obtaining visa (for the applicants outside China).
